Aldeburgh Inshore Lifeboat
The D-Class is of all inflatable type construction powered by one 50 hp outboard engine and is capable of being manually righted after capsize. The engine is fitted with Fast PIRS (Fast Post Immersion Restart System),Navigation lights are fitted, and a battery powered searchlight carried, in addition to para illuminating flares. The D Class has a very modest towing capability, but this severely restricts the boat’s natural manoeuvrability.Equipment includes both fitted and hand held VHF radio, Night Vision Equipment, and First Aid Kit including Oxygen. A GPS/Chart plotter and engine charging for the searchlight and electronics system is also fitted. A crew of two, but more usually three, may operate the boat.
