We had an unusual visitor to the Lifeboat Station last week – a swan! It was obviously interested in the Lifeboat in the ‘shed,’

but then became more interested in being fed and watered..!

RNLI Charity Fashion Show

The fashion show last week was very successful and great fun! A very big thank you goes to Sue and everyone at O C Butchers for their hard work at organising the ‘models’, the Guild and crew for everything else. There were some fantastic draw prizes and, through the generosity of everyone who attended, a substantial amount was raised for the RNLI.

Local ladies and menswear shop, O&C Butcher, are pleased to announce a fashion show to raise funds for the RNLI. Those ‘hitting’ the catwalk include Aldeburgh Lifeboat Station crew members and volunteers. This will be held at Aldeburgh Community Centre on Wednesday 24th April 2013, starting at 7.00pm. Doors open at 6.30pm. Tickets are priced at £8.50, which includes a glass of wine and ‘nibbles’.

Aldeburgh RNLI are pleased to be associated with British adventurer Sarah Outen who is currently part way through a major expedition – a bid to loop the planet using human power, rowing, cycling and kayaking her way from London out and around back to London.

After her first attempt to row solo across the North Pacific from Japan to Canada was aborted in June 2012 after a run in with typhoon Mawar, Sarah is getting ready to relaunch her journey in March. She will be spending a few day’s training in and around Aldeburgh from 7th January with her boat ‘Happy Socks’

It is with great sadness to report the sudden death of Jimmy Robinson, Aldeburgh Lifeboat Station DLA, on Wednesday 7th November. He had been a great part of the Lifeboat community for more than 16 years and will be greatly missed by all the Lifeboat crew and the town of Aldeburgh.

There will be a memorial service, celebrating his life, on Thursday 15th November 2012 at 12.00 in Aldeburgh Parish Church

AYC Donation to Aldeburgh Lifeboats

Aldeburgh Lifeboat station are delighted to receive a cheque for £1,850 which was presented by Aldeburgh Yacht Club Committee Member, Patrick Hill, to Steven Saint, the Coxswain, at the Lifeboat Station on Wednesday, 22nd August. AYC held a very successful Charity Dinner and Auction last month, when, in addition to the RNLI, funds were raised for the Wolverstone Project and East Anglia Sailing Trust.

Also in the picture is Rufus Gilday, Chairman of the Aldeburgh & District Lifeboat Guild and “George”.

Charity Catwalk in Aid of RNLI September 19th at 7pm

O.C.Butchers of Aldeburgh, have organised a catwalk on September 19th at 7pm, in Aldeburgh Community Centre. Models taking part are crew from Aldeburgh Lifeboat and will be showing the latest fashions found in O.C.Butchers, but also raising funds for the RNLI. All are welcome.

RNLI Aldeburgh Lifeboat Station Street Fair

Saturday 25th August 2012 – a fund raising street fair is occurring outside Aldeburgh Lifeboat Station.

Sunday 26th August 2012 – a beach service is taking place in front of Aldeburgh Lifeboat Station at 3pm.

Otley College Raise £1000 for Aldeburgh Lifeboats

Every year for the last 16 years Kathryn Crossland, Student Welfare Co-ordinator at Otley College, has run a refreshment marquee at the Suffolk Show, raising money for local charities. This year she chose the Aldeburgh Lifeboats and in spite of the cancellation of the second day, due to bad weather, she and her team raised the magnificent sum of £1000. Kathryn is pictured here presenting the cheque to the Coxswain, Steven Saint, at the Aldeburgh Lifeboat Station on 4th July 2012.

The Station and Guild wish to express their grateful thanks for this generous donation. It should be added that because the Show was held on only one day this year, Otley College have indicated that Aldeburgh Lifeboats will be their chosen charity next year.
