Eight rescued from two stranded boats

Aldeburgh ILB “Christine” was launched to assist 8 people stranded in 2 boats near Snape Quay at 16.28 on September 15th. Aldeburgh Coastguard Search Team located the 2 craft and, in a combined operation with the Suffolk Fire & Rescue Water Rescue team, evacuated the casualties to Iken Cliff. The operations was made difficult with poor visibility, rain and a falling tide. The Water Rescue Team made use of their inflatable walkways to assist the casualties to the ILB. Helmsman David Cook and Crew Luke Cousins are to be congratulated for carrying out a difficult task successfully. The casualties were checked by paramedics from East Anglian Ambulance Service and brought to Aldeburgh Lifeboat Station for a hot drink.
